The aim of this 2 day event is to optimise your chance of passing the FRCS exit examination. Only exam material is discussed/presented; no time wasting lectures will be given.
According to previous candidate, this is the only course that is representative of the exam.
Day 1
(10am-6pm) consists of viva practice on all 4 stations as well as CLINICALS
Day 2
2 (9am-5pm) consists of more viva as well as HISTORY AND COMMUNICATION.
We will also present key mini lectures to explain difficulty key concepts in Otorhinology:
- Glasgow Benefit Plot and Belfast Rule of Thumb
- Masking made easy
- How to present a MRI and CT scan professionally
- Parapharyngeal space anatomy and surgical access
- How to draw facial flaps quickly (before and after surgery)
FRCS Section 2 Warm-Up Schedule (UNIQUE)
7th & 8th Oct 2017, London
This part of the Exam is all about talking for a specific period, so most of the time on the course will be spent with you taking turns in the hot seat - talking talking talking
- Real exam marking sheets will be used. Tips will be given throughout.
- Each viva case will be taken through to advanced question you must keep your answer moving and stick to time.
- Key points for model answers will be provided.
- This format is a best way to learn from each other

Sat 7th OCT 2017: Start time 10am finish time 6pm
- Multiple 5 mins Mock vivas covering Paediatric emergency conditions (pass/fail questions)
- Multiple 5 mins Mock vivas covering Paediatrics non-emergency conditions
- Multiple 10 minutes mock viva sessions on History and Communication scenarios
- Multiple 5 mins vivas on Otology and Neuro-otology conditions
- Clinical audiology cases (audiograms, OAEs , etc )
- MRI scans and MRI Quiz
- Short supplementary lectures as required
Sun 8th Oct 2017: Start time 9 am finish time 5pm
- Clinical cases during AM session
- Multiple 5 mins mock vivas on Head and Neck conditions
- Multiple 5 mins mock vivas on Rhinology conditions
- Multiple 5 mins mock vivas on Facial Plastics
- CT Scans and CT Quiz
- Tips for Clinicals
- Short supplementary lectures as required
